Transgender People

It can be tough to accurately categorize people who broke away from the gender they were assigned at birth — as for much of history we did not have the language to properly explain or identify transgender people, non-binary people, and others falling outside of cisnormativity. As such, for this specific instance, we are using the term “transgender” to define anyone from history who’s gender identity or gender expression did not match the gender they were assigned at birth.
